Call ahead & auto-call (keep every counter busy)

Let one window hold several live tickets ("then #46 #47") and auto-fill free capacity from the line, so a counter never idles while the next customer walks up.

Requires Location Admin (settings) — any staff benefit at the console

Windowed mode only. Defaults are off — existing locations are unchanged until you opt in.

What it does

Normally a window serves one customer at a time: call, serve, finish, call again — and the counter idles while the next person walks up. Call ahead lets each window hold several live tickets at once (one being served, the rest already called and walking up), and auto-call fills any free capacity from the line automatically the moment it opens.

The now-serving board shows it as "#45 … then #46 #47" — so the next customers start walking before the current one finishes.

Turn it on

  1. Go to Manage windows → Serving options.
  2. Set At-window limit (1–20). 1 is classic one-at-a-time; 3 is a good checkout-counter start.
  3. Tick Auto-call if you want free capacity filled from the line with no taps at all. Leave it off to keep staff in control of every call.

Good to know

  • Auto-call never re-calls someone a staffer just recalled to the queue — recalls stay put until a person decides.
  • End-of-shift and the away-sweeper recall a window's whole stack of live tickets, so nobody is stranded mid-walk-up.
  • Works beautifully with rapid one-tap serving: tap Done, and auto-call brings the next customer in the same beat.
