Privacy, consent & age confirmation
What customers are told about their data, how marketing consent is recorded, and the optional age confirmation.
Requires Location Admin
The privacy disclosure (always on)
Every check-in and reservation form shows a short line telling customers their details are used by your business to manage their spot, linking to the privacy notice. This is not optional — it's how customers know who is handling their information. Your business decides its own broader privacy policy; SiteCheckin processes the data on your behalf.
Marketing consent
If your form offers a marketing opt-in, a customer ticking it creates a consent record — what the wording said, when, and from where it was submitted. Records are kept even if the customer is later deleted from your list, because they're your evidence of consent. Consent is never pre-ticked and never required to join the queue.
Viewing consent records: open Activity in the sidebar and switch to the Consent log tab — every opt-in/opt-out with the exact wording, time, and source (Admins only). Each customer's profile also shows their own consent history.
Age confirmation (optional, off by default)
For locations that serve minors alongside adults (a library's study rooms, for example), you can require a self-confirmation checkbox before check-in:
- Open Settings → Check-in options.
- Turn on Require an age confirmation and adjust the wording if needed (the default reads "I am 18 or older, or a parent/guardian is completing this for me").
- Select Save.
This is a self-attestation, not an ID check — minors with a guardian can still proceed. Each confirmed check-in stores the time the box was ticked.
What this is not
None of this constitutes legal advice, and enabling these features doesn't by itself make your business compliant with any specific law — pair them with your own policies.
